Hojo Undo
The
hojo undo are Uechi-Ryu techniques sometimes performed as warm up
exercises in class. Hojo undo are techniques from the katas also known
as the technical fundamentals
Shomen Geri - the basic front kick.
Front hand wauke block followed by front-leg front-kick
Rear
hand wauke block followed by rear-foot front-kick
Sokuto Geri - a basic Uechi side snap kick
Front hand wauke block followed by front-leg side-kick
Rear
hand wauke block followed by rear-foot side-kick
Seiken tsuki - block punch block punch:
Front hand wauke followed by rear hand seiken
Front hand shote uke (middle or palm heel block) followed by rear hand
seiken strike.
Mawashi tsuki - round or hook punch
Rear hand wauke followed by front hand hook punch
Front hand wauke followed by rear hand hook punch
Hiraken tsuki - four knuckle strike
A
high rising blocking our knuckle strike
Followed by forward thrust
Inside
outside blocks followed by a strike .
Shuto Uraken Shoken Zuki - chop, back fist one knuckle strike
Rear hand wauke followed by front hand shuto strike
Front hand back fist followed by front hand shoken
Hiji Zuki - elbow strike.
Rear hand wauke, then elbow strikes: up into chin, to the side, to the
rear.
Koino Shippo Uchi Yoko Uchi - wrist blocks, fishtail blocks side
to side
Koino Shippo Uchi Tatte Uchi - wrist blocks up down, side to
side, outside in
Shomen Hajiki - finger flipping eye strike
Slide forward, pull arms down and follow with eye strike. Repeat sliding
back.
Tenshin Shoken Zuki, Ko Soku Geri, and Zen Soku Geri
It is best to learn this method of body position shifting in class
