Self-Defense Tip

Self-Defense Tip

October 2003

Self defense starts with common sense
( here are just a few suggestions)

1. Be aware of your surroundings,

-park in well lighted areas
-don't walk against the outer wall of buildings,
-don't walk along hedges and bush barriers,
-travel with a companion, there is safety in numbers

2. Make sure you do not look like a potential VICTIM, by,

-walking while listening to a walkman,
-overloading yourself full of items in your arms,
-acting and walking unsure of yourself

- DO be sure to walk with determination and confidence
- DO hold head high, eyes forward and glancing around.

3. Vary routines,
-change walking and or jogging routes regularly

4. Listen to your instincts - it is better to be more careful than not, but not paranoid and afraid.
-if it doesn't feel right it probably isn't

5. Remember no one can second guess what you should / could have done in the same situation.
