Message To Parents

In making it possible for your child to have the most rewarding experience with his / her karate training you are providing the opportunity to develop self expression, self confidence, emotional well being, and an understanding of the importance of good health through exercise.  Always keep in mind that your support is a key element in your child's success with their karate training.

What to do to give your child the best possible support?  You should encourage your child to practice in front of family members, attend school functions, and attend a karate competition to see the value of practice.  Talk to your child about their lessons.  Watch your child practice when possible.  Encourage your child to set goals and meet obligations to learn the necessary skills.  Talk to your child's teacher about their progress.  Schedule consistent daily practice times and provide a quiet place to practice.  Karate and sport skill development requires effort over a period of time.  Remain nearby if possible.  Praise your child's efforts and achievements.

What not to do.

Your child's progress will be greatly enhanced if you do not use practice as a punishment. Don't insist on putting your child on display in front of others. Don't make fun of mistakes or less than perfect techniques or allow siblings to do so. Don't expect rapid progress and development in the beginning.
